Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for cardiologists, infectious disease specialists, nurses/nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other clinicians who treat patients with CIEDs.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to identify the incidence of CIED infections, clinical and economic burden, impact on patient morbidity and mortality, gaps in identification and management, and barriers to timely, guideline-directed identification and treatment.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Barriers to timely identification and management of CIED infections
    • Guideline-directed management of CIED infections
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Addressing barriers to CIED infection management to improve timely diagnosis and referral for guideline-directed care
